Looking good, White House website
0 comments
I just want to point out the new and improved Whitehouse.gov website that's been up since Obama was sworn in. There is now an extremely extensive section on women's issues, which covers health care, reproductive choice, preventing violence against women, economic issues, national security, poverty, and education.
There is also a section on civil rights, which covers GLBT rights, including expanding hate crime statutes, fighting workplace discrimination, supporting full civil unions and federal rights, opposing a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," expanding adoption rights, promoting AIDS prevention, and empowering women to fight HIV/AIDS.
Wow. Though Obama might not be as progressive as some of us wish, you have to give him credit. Does anyone know if any other president had a section on GLBT rights on the website? Bill maybe?
