Sebelius chews out Westboro protesters

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius severely criticized the crazies that come (largely from Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church) and protest funerals of former soldiers. You know, these people:

You really can't publicly condemn them enough.

Wow. This is so horrible. I cannot believe that people are picketing FUNERALS. Hello people they are mourning the death of a family member and they do not need you yelling at them praising the people that killed their sons and daughters. Have a little respect and grow a heart.

Now I am totally in support of Kathleen Sebelius in her criticizing of the Westboro Baptist Church. People in the public eye should not be afraid to voice their beliefs and opinions including people in office. She should not be afraid to criticize people who she thinks is wrong. People need to stop suppressing their opinions and beliefs just because they might offend someone. Everyone will be too afraid to actually have an opinion let alone voice it, so we just go along everyday saying nothing.

I am from Kansas, and I've personally gone up against Mr. Fred Phelps at the age of 16. I met Matthew Sheperd's mother, Judy, during this protest. She gave me some great advice: learn from it but never acknowledge it. Now, for many, you might think she's saying ignore it. This is far from the truth. She's saying, "Arguing is pointless with these people. Learn from this, but arguing will only feed it. So do not acknowledge them." She was an amazing person.
