D.C. legalizes!

Same-sex marriage is now LEGAL in Washington, D.C.

Congratulations to all couples who are finally able to tie the knot, and thank you to the D.C. politicians who voted in favor of equality.

What next?

I am very happy that homosexuals now have the right to marry. Just because they believe and feel something other than the norm does not make it right to discriminate against their way of life. Homosexuals are just as equally human as the next person, so why be treated any differently. This post just made me so elated that America is taking one more step closer to all around equality.

This is wonderful; people should be allowed to unite with whomever they choose, regardless to what sex they may be. It's great to see that some places, such as Washington, are stepping outside of what seems to be the "norm." Homosexuals do not intrude into the life of others, so why do so many people/places discriminate against them? Just because it's not what they're use to doesn't allow them the right to bash on same-sexed marriages and those who choose to be together. Sometimes, I feel like people need to "live a life in the other person's shoes." Think about it, how would heterosexuals feel if they were treated and neglected the rights that homosexuals are? All in all, you go Washington!

I think this is a great step in the right direction. If the capitol of our country allows same-sex marriage, it's ony a matter of time before the ideals begin trickling down.

Finally.I'm so glad to hear that our Nation's capitol has legalized same-sex marriage. However, I dont feel as though marrying the one you love, regardless of sex should be an issue under any circumstances. It took a long time for states to start legalizing gay marriages but maybe with D.C. taking initiative, more states will follow the leading example.

I agree with everyone. I am rather excited that D. C. made this step. I do feel like it may open the doors for other states to legalize gay marriage. However, it also opens up for more discrimination for gays to have to indure. I'm hoping they can stay strong and that their way of life will be accepted by all.

I think it is a lovely thing that homosexual couples can marry. Just because someone is homosexual should not make them any less of a person. Everyone should have the opportunity to marry and start a life with their loved one so I'm glad to learn this information. I'm happy to hear this especially because it makes me feel as though equality is improving. Coming from someone with homosexual friends I'm ecstatic to learn that my friends could potentially take the leap to get married instead of being unable to.

This is a wonderful step forward for the gay community. It is a wonderful way to show the rest of the world that they are normal people too and why shouldn't they be happy. Homosexuality shouldn't make then a different person, they are human being just like the rest of us. Everyone deserves to be happy.
