Women can play football now!

Men get football, a highly popular sport taken so seriously that, when in season, people bet money on it, talk about it constantly with friends and strangers, Tweet about it, and dedicate their Sundays to it.

We... get lingerie football.

There's an entire league, in fact. The Lingerie Football League. The website looks like a standard website for any sports league, with game recaps and team standings, except for the half-naked models of course.

If you watch the videos of the games, you'll see that a lot of these women are tough as nails, surviving tackle after tackle, in which their bare skin is dragged across the ground because they aren't allowed to wear clothes. The sad part is that no one seems to watch this sexist sport to admire the athletic ability of women.

Forgive me if I skip the next LFL game.

What next?

Please excuse me while I vomit. Ugh, this is just...I have no words. I have high hopes that someday we can have women sports leagues that don't involve skimpy outfits and really thin women. Perhaps I'm an optimist.

It is ridiculous that the only way women can play football is in skimpy clothes. They do have football leagues for women that are legit; however, there is a lot of negative press against the players. Summing up the words, basically they say women should not play football. Apparently football is a man’s sport. Yes, women have less muscle then men and most are afraid to get tackled. But, looking around I see some rather skinny boys and some tough as nails girls. Who says that females cannot play “tough” sports? I played powder puff football my senior year of high school and all the girls voted to play tickle rather than just touch. Women are tough. We have to put up with men all day that we have become strong enough to handle a hit from another woman.

Surprise surprise, another way women in the media are expected to look. Not only having a sexy body is necessary but being sexy AND playing a sport with almost no clothes on is taking over the media. Last time I checked, people who played football were supposed to be bigger. Twigs aren't the ideal type. But for women playing in these uniforms bigger women would not look attractive...which leads to people not watching it, which would mean this team would be pointless. I think it's good women are playing sports that are "made" for men. Although I think the jersey could have been a bit more manly too.

That's just another commercial spin that uses women as merchandise, seriously what a shame.
