New dating show for plus-sized women

The preview I saw on TV for this show began with, "The average woman is a size 14/16. The average reality show star is a size 2. How is that reality?" To which I shouted "AMEN!" What does everyone think about this new dating show on Fox? Is it a positive thing for bigger women? Putting aside any negative feelings about dating shows in general, of course.

What next?

I've seen this commercial before and have thought about it a little (http://youngfeministadventures.blogspot.com/2009/06/more-to-objectify.html). I'm still not quire sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it's great to see a more realistic representation of women in television. On the other hand, I feel like the show is only valuing the people in the show for their weight and further objectifying them. When a show is using a specific (as in there is a verbalized qualifier to be on the show) attribute to pick contestants, I'm always kind of weary.

I am kind of grossed out by the fact that even though this show is apparently like "The Bachelor" in its set up, the focus isn't on "real women" finding love; it's about "real women" crying about how they can't find love because of their size...only now they can because there's one guy who digs bigger girls. And he will one-by-one eliminate them. I feel a Biggest Loser-esque spinoff happening with the eliminated women. Puke.

Even though I hate these types of shows, it would be nicer to see a season of the "The Bachelor" with a guy who is "looking for" all different kinds of women rather than a show that seems to be focused on the awe-inspiring sweetness of fat girls finding a man.

Plus, "More to Love"? Give me a break!!! From the looks of it, the guy has "more to love" as well...they might as well call it, "The Bachelor: Plus Sized!"
