Too many things insult women, I might just run out of stickers

Just thought I'd share the good use I put my "THIS INSULTS WOMEN" stickers to from the fabulous Sticker Sisters company. Good thing I carry them around with me wherever I go, because I especially needed them while browsing in a bookstore, in which I came across the first book I've ever had the urge to burn: The Alphabet of Manliness. Yes it's as bad as it sounds. Don't bother commenting and telling me to "lighten up" because it's a "joke." Joke or not, it's still really fucking sexist. For example, C is for Copping a Feel, F is for Female Wrestling, K is for Knockers, and S is for Sneaking a Peek. A big ol' gold star goes to author Maddox for knowing how to spell, because I really had my doubts.

What next?

Obviously men are all just 12-year-old boys who really just want to stare at/touch/peek at/grab boobs. That's not insulting! I'm glad someone was paid money to write that shit.

Also, so that no one can do it after me:
"LIGHTEN UP! You crazy feminists have no sense of humor!"

a grown man shouldn't be able to act like a child to get away with being sexist without reprimand. Leslie, you seem to say that if a person acts immature, they're not responsible for their actions, and that just baffles me. how can order exist if the childish get away with whatever they want?

it may be packaged as a 'joke' but jokes can be just as degrading as any straightforward statement.

Leslie, have you any idea how that statement is sexist toward men? The men in my life, family, friends, boyfriends, etc. are NOT a bunch of 12 year old boys.

Oh yah, it's not insulting at all when people have a sense of entitlement over YOUR body, no matter who they are.

    Seriously, how old are you?

I think Leslie was being sarcastic because the Alphabet of Manliness reduces men to a stereotype. She was making fun of that stereotype.

Jeez Louise are you kidding me?? It was sarcasm! I was implying that it was insulting to men to treat them like obnoxious horny 12 yr olds.

Oh sorry, Leslie. Sarcasm is sometimes hard to read when not accompanied by facial expressions and tone. Especially when you read so many posts online where people say such things and mean it.

    uhm...

    have you read Maddox?

He's a giant frikkin parody writer. he routinely tells his readers that this is what asshole looks like. This isn't a "joke" as in, haha, lighten up, your humorless feminist. It IS "this is satire and it is offensive, and it's supposed to be because it's so over the top that anybody with half a brain (and Maddox would be the first to tell you that many of his crazier readers DO NOT have half a brain) that he is making a satire of the common "manly" tropes. he has a burly 18th century pirate complete with parrot for a blog portrait.

I get that it's not for everyone, and yes. It's offensive. But sometimes satire is. I would laugh SO. DAMN. HARD at this sticker on maddox's book--partly because if I hadn't seen this article I couldn't be sure that he didn't put it on there himself.

Yes, I have read Maddox, many times. I understand it's a parody/satire, but the problem is that many people don't take it that way. I doubt most people pick up this book and say, "Oh look, an intelligent parody of the sexist oppression that plagues our patriarchal society!" Trust me, I didn't just see the cover of this book and decide to slap the sticker on - I read some of it for myself and judged it from there.
