CA Court to decide on Prop 8 next week

This Tuesday at 10AM, the California Supreme Court will rule on the discriminatory Prop 8. The Court could either uphold Prop 8, thereby keeping same-sex marriage illegal in the state of California, or reject Prop 8 and give deserving same-sex couples the same marriage rights that heterosexual couples enjoy. If the former decision is made, it remains to be seen whether or not the Court will invalidate the thousands of same-sex marriages that have already been performed, way back when same-sex marriage was legal in California for all of two seconds.

Depending on the decision, Equality California is calling on all states to either celebrate or protest. Visit DayofDecision.com to find an event in your area. This is a HUGE decision - be sure to check on the results come Tuesday! No doubt I will be compulsively refreshing Equality California's Twitter page to find out. Eeeeee, I'm nervous!

What next?

Considering how so many states have passed gay marriage legislation since Obama's been in office, I am hopeful.

I am nervous, too! If it's upheld twice, that's a huge slam. Hopefully Jen is right and the voters will see that same-sex marriage has been a positive for states that support marriage equality.
