Gay bars in Seattle threatened with poison

This is horribly upsetting and it just shows the extreme hatred that exists in this world. A couple days ago, 11 gay bars in Seattle received letters from an anonymous sender. The letters explained that the sender is in possession of 67 grams of ricin, a deadly poison, and plans to use it to target 5 random people in each bar. Here's a copy of the letter - it's very disturbing:

A letter was also sent to a newspaper, telling them to be prepared to publish 55 obituaries. The letter concluded with: "I could take this moment to launch into a diatribe about my indignation towards the gay community. However, I think the deaths will speak for themselves."

It hurt me so badly to read this. I sincerely hope that every bar on the target list takes the necessary precautions to prevent this from happening. Or perhaps the person is merely bluffing. Whatever will keep 55 innocent people from being killed.

What next?

Wow. This seriously turns my stomach. What kind of a scary freak sends out this fear-inducing crap? Obviously, I hope that it's not real and if it's not it just creates this panic that will make people afraid to go to those establishments. Which is what s/he probably wanted in the first place, anyway.

This is beyond comprehension. This person is obviously disturbed.

The level of hate is disturbing, but the actual threat level seems relatively low. Aren't you always supposed to watch your drink, and make sure no stranger (or even your date) has access to it? I don't see any way that this sicko could do what he threatens to, but what the letter itself does is enough; it's plain terrorism.
