Facebook war on nipples

This is interesting, and definitely says something about our culture. Facebook recently cracked down on female users who were - GASP! - posting pictures of them breastfeeding their babies. Now, personally I would never post pictures of myself breastfeeding, but women do it in public all the time - so why is Facebook so threatened by displays of motherhood?

This is a video of a man who challenged Facebook's moves by posting his own nipples on his profile and seeing their response.

Hm.

What next?

Interesting that pictures of people drunk and passed out with their skirts over their heads get to stay up... because that's "hot" right? Not that we should just be ashamed of everything, but really no one wants to see that.

HA! How hypocritical! Perhaps the inconsistency in Facebook's reaction to male nipples is because pictures of this FB member's nipples do not make FB any money, whereas the nipple display in the shaving ad do.

Aren't you pleased, at least, that if FB has an anti-nipple policy, they are enforcing it across the sexes?

Facebook trying to ban these pictures is horribly negative. There is a huge difference between breasts for breastfeeding and breasts used in a sexually explicit manner and saying that two are one in the same is so damaging. Not to mention that they apparently aren't giving people enough credit. A poll I recently saw had the majority of men agreeing that a woman should be allowed to breastfeed in public, and rightfully so. She's feeding her child for goodness sake and people aren't two-year-olds. Maybe we could move past things like this and there wouldn't be this discomfort with issues like this if places like Facebook wouldn't condemn them to be shameful.

I as a Facebook think that women should be able to post pictures of themselves breast feeding if they choose to. It is there Facebook and they have the choice to make their profiles and pictures private to others. If you do not want to see such pictures you have the option to not look at them. I agree that Facebok allows teenagers to post pictures of themselves half naked or drunk and puking. People put these pictures on because they are comfortable with others viewing them. Women should be allowed to post pictures of them breast feeding if they want to.
