Chris Matthews: blogs aren't journalism

I've never been a fan of Chris Matthews. But the comment he made on "Hardball" Thursday really took the cake. Watch him slam a reporter from the New York Daily News for citing blogs while discussing Caroline Kennedy's withdrawal from Senate consideration.

His exact words are: "Let's stick to journalism. I don't do that here. If it's just blogging, let's drop it. If you got anything to report that's hard, report it, don't give me blog stuff here."

Nice. I realize there are some utterly pointless and laughable blogs on the internet, but there are also some really fucking good blogs. I could name about 20 of them right now. I'm sorry you feel threatened by our blogging, Chris Matthews, but I like to think that blogs and mainstream media can coexist and complement each other. No need to argue over who's the "real" journalist here.

What next?
