Conservatives want their picture-perfect candidate back!

Just saw this on Feministing, and was extremely infuriated. For those of you who saw the latest issue of Newsweek, you probably noticed that the cover features a very up-close-and-personal photo of Sarah Palin. Conservatives (see: Fox News) are now pissed because the Palin photo wasn't airbushed. UH... say WHAT? I wish I were kidding. They're taking it to mean that Newsweek intentionally put her wrinkles and stray hairs on display to give Republicans a "slap in the face."

Personally, I get what Newsweek was doing. Their article on Palin was arguing that her folksy personality might work against her, rather than for her. It's clear what the photo was trying to do. Newsweek was exposing the fact that too many people are blinded by her charm and good looks - but when you look really close, you'll see many flaws - flaws that a vice president just shouldn't have. That was their statement. But all Fox News sees is a beauty issue. I find it hilarious that the same news station that calls Democrats "sexist" for questioning Palin's credentials is advocating for her photo to be airbushed like she's Heidi Klum on the cover of Elle magazine. Watch one woman call Newsweek "liberal elitist" media. I wish I had a nickel for every time conservatives played the elitist card.

What next?

Wow... I never thought I would hear those words coming out of anybody's mouth. I'm more and more disappointed every day with GOP pundits & candidates.

So, if Palin is so "folksy" and one of the real people in America, unlike Obama, why should we have to airbrush her face? She is a beautiful woman, no one will deny that, but that should NEVER ever be an issue when it comes to her viability as a political candidate or how she feels on the issues. After all of the crying "sexism" that the GOP has done lately, you'd think they would be sure to steer clear of making her any more superficial... but then again, there isn't really any content for them to discuss so all they can talk about is her face...

This is exactly the problem with 24 hour news networks. They run out of stuff to talk about so they have to make mountains out of molehills in the hopes of stretching conversation. And Fox has the clearest conservative bias out of all of them.

She still looks great, so I don't know what everyone's problem is. Or maybe they're pissed because they only hired Palin 'cuz she's pretty. So to make her look any less pretty is devastating to their campaign!
