Elizabeth Edwards was just ASKING for her husband to cheat on her!

Rush Limbaugh, my favorite person in the entire world (did ya catch the sarcasm?!) is once again spreading his wonderful messages of positivity! On his radio show a few days ago, he offered his "theories" on why John Edwards decided to cheat on his wife. Limbaugh's ground-breaking theory? That Elizabeth Edwards stupidly offered more words than blowjobs.

"OK, we're back. Ladies and gentleman, my theory that I just explained to you about why -- you know, what could have John Edwards' motivations been to have the affair with Rielle Hunter, given his wife is smarter than he is and probably nagging him a lot about doing this, and he found somebody that did something with her mouth other than talk. I think I can back this up from her."

Limbaugh, in all his infinite glory, also managed to insult female Olympic athletes during the same radio broadcast:

"...You know, I'm in a little quicksand already today talking about how the chicks are giving us boring pictures of the female athletes from the Olympics. Because I know -- you -- the diversity crowd's going to be upset. They're going to -- "Ooh, do you mean the Olympics are just so you guys can ogle wom--" Yes, because we do not care to watch 'em compete!"

Well, shit! Rush Limbaugh once again proves that he has nothing but intelligent input to offer on his radio show. Later in the broadcast, he stated, "You get mad at me for bringing the truth to you, but it is what it is." No, Limbaugh... you bring us ignorance. And Lord knows we don't need more of that in this world.

But, just to put a smile on your face, here's MSNBC's Keith Olbermann's wonderful response to Limbaugh's sexist and misguided comments:

Heh. Heh. Heh.

What next?

You've done a great job expressing how idiotic and ignorant this man is. I feel sorry for him because he is sooo incredibly ignorant, and knows nothing of the intellectual world. Men should be mad with him for being such a sucky representative of their gender.

I don't know Tristan...I say the best way to kill this beast is to ignore it.

I agree that Limbaugh's views come off as incredibly ignorant and idiotic and all that jazz, but I think that's his point; I'd give Rush a little credit, actually. I believe that Rush is more like a good character actor, and what he does is pander: in other words, he might not necessarily agree with the terrible things he says on his show, but he knows his target audience does, which means more advertising revenue in his pockets.

All of which, IMO, is *much worse* than Rush simply being an ignorant idiot or whatever other name you want use.

I do take umbrage, however, at the thought of Rush Limbaugh being considered a representative of any facet of my being, much less my Y chromosome...

Yeah, I wouldn't agree that Rush Limbaugh is "representative" of all males... maybe the fact that he's a sucky representative of conservative political commentators is a more accurate description.

I wouldn't necessarily call him a "character actor." I think that title is more appropriately attributed to someone like Stephen Colbert, who has adopted a completely different persona entirely and sticks to it in such a way that his entire audience is always aware that he is acting. Limbaugh might say outrageous things for shock value and to please his target audience, but I do think to some extent he believes in what he says.
