The rewards of abstinence

Sex Ed in the Bible Belt? Makes you cringe, doesn't it? Check out this interesting article from AlterNet about one woman's experience with sex education that was designed more to scare students than to inform them. And what reward did she receive for vowing to stay abstinent until marriage? A free chicken sandwich.

What?

Bottom line: some "sex education" classes are really fucked up. I can't imagine what these poor children grew up to be - young adults who are terrified of sex and must resort to the internet to receive answers to their ignored questions.

What are your experiences with sex education? Did you witness condoms being put on bananas or were you bribed by fried food to abstain from sex?

What next?

We were told that if you ever had sex, you would automatically become pregnant, no matter what time of the month you did it and no matter if you used contraceptives or not (and that babies ruin your life and are horrible little creatures), and you would automatically get AIDS and other diseases no matter if you took precautions. End of story.

Oh dear. So you basically experienced sex ed that used scare tactics as well. This type of sex education is just as bad as abstinence-only because it teaches FALSE ideas to teens. Scaring teens out of having sex is not the answer. I wish people would realize that.

Well sadly the world it's like this, were the money calls for everyone and when money calls it's worth it to kill some people.

I think that in this time is really hard to keeping abstinent because sex is everywhere, I think that's hard because of the society which force people to do things they don't want.

Abstinence is a choice but is hard because the sex is everywhere (tv,internet etc) , sex education can inform you, which is very good receive that and can prevent STDs
